XE’s new 2.0 litre 4-cylinder Turbocharged Ingenium Petrol engines deliver outstanding usable power and torque. With their lightweight design and widespread use of low-friction roller bearings, they are built for smooth, highly efficient performance.
The 3.0 litre 380PS V6 Supercharged Petrol engine has been adapted for the specific requirements of XE. A Roots-type twin vortex supercharger is mounted in the ‘V' between the two rows of cylinders for compact dimensions. It provides linear delivery of power and maximises responsiveness of the engine’s torque.
Delivering rapid shifting for effortless acceleration, XE's 8-speed Automatic transmission is highly responsive, smooth and efficient. Featuring a contemporary Satin Black rotary selector – the transmission offers even quicker shifts and sportier kick-down in Dynamic Mode, and earlier up-shifts in Eco Mode. You can also opt to manually control gearshifts, via steering wheel paddles, at the touch of a finger.
The Ingenium 2.0 litre 4-cylinder 200PS Turbocharged Petrol engine offers the drivability of larger engines, but with much lower fuel consumption. Direct fuel injection from centrally mounted solenoid injectors ensures precise delivery of fuel for highly efficient and clean combustion. Intelligent Continuously Variable Valve Lift control manages early or late opening of inlet valves, meaning the engine can adapt its performance to all driving situations. This works with dual independent variable cam timing to optimise power at all speeds.
